NEO CARTOON LOVER
: Input Output (Modern Noise | Dead Frog Records | Rough Trade)
Neo Cartoon Lover is a duo from Gothenburg, Sweden with Marcus Ekberg, Henrik Berg. The group released their first single in 2007 which was “Input Output” with help of Dead Frog Records. The single was a test to see if the music would work outside the clubs it was made for. And see if radio even considered playing it. Input Output was a small success. The biggest radio station in Sweden P3 picked it up and had it on rotation for a couple of weeks. The biggest Radio station in Stockholm held the song on rotation for two months. That was proof enough for Dead Frog to take Neo Cartoon Lover to a next stage. Their mix of Dance / Electronica / Hip hop was working everywhere.
The album Input Output was recorded and released in Scandinavia in April 2008. On the album Neo Cartoon Lover started to work with other artist like Daddy Boastin (Teddybears STHLM), Ella and Partners In Ryhme from London. From the album was the single Party Hardy released and it got the same attention like Input Output. The song was a bigger hit on MySpace where Neo Cartoon Lover got more and more visitors and listeners.
Neo Cartoon Lover started to record their next album in August 2008. The first they did was to make the song Soopah fly with the new star on the hip hop scene Crome. The song was too good to just lay around so it was released in October 2008. Soopah fly went through the roof and P3 put it on rotation the first week. At the same time they also put on the song Always from the album on rotation.
Soopah Fly got six weeks of rotation. Always got 13 weeks on rotation on P3.
Then Neo Cartoon Lover got a Marijuana award for best party song 2008. Their MySpace then got sky high. During a period of four weeks they got over 2 million visitors to the site. Today over 3,5 million visitors has been on the page and listen to the songs. That makes the group one of the top ten most visited Swedish groups.
The radio station NRJ took the group to be their My Space warning and had Soopah fly spinning on the station. My Space will have Neo Cartoon on their front page in the end of March 2008.
Soopah fly is now on radio promotion in Germany and starting to get attention on radio stations. The album Input Output will then be rereleased May 2009 in Germany with a new Artwork and a new track list from the on in 2008. On the new album Soopah fly will be on and a remix of Not 4 You by David Moralee. The album is collaboration with Dead Frog records / Dead Frog music and Modern Noise/ Fragmento Verlag and will be distributed by Rough Trade / Good to go worldwide. Booking on Solar Penguin in Europe.
